My second home, even before Mary Washington, has always been a ball field. For as far back as I can remember, I cannot think of a time when I wasn’t constantly either at a baseball field (to support my brother) or a softball field (to play the sport I love). Growing up around these sports, and still playing softball on the UMW club team to this day, is a huge part of who I am. I’ve had some of my best and worst memories on the softball field, but I am a better and stronger person as a result of everything I’ve been through with the sport.
Also, I want to briefly acknowledge that the club team at Mary Washington has had a huge positive impact on my college career as a whole. It allows me to still continue playing the sport I love while also allowing me to pursue other interests while balancing my double major. Competitive but still fun, this team is a perfect fit for me and I am thankful to have the opportunity to play on it.
